Lots of people are on Facebook. At least 400 millions (In Feb 2010). Now how can you take advantage of this huge network and drive traffic to YOUR blog?
Here are two quick tips to drive more traffic to your blog from Facebook:
1) Publish your articles on the weekend
More than half of the companies in the US and in Canada block Facebook. Therefore, people can only access their account on the weekend and catch up with what they missed during the week. For those of you who work in a company that does allow Facebook, why are you on Facebook instead of working anyway?
So by publishing your post or article on the weekend, they are more likely to be shared and viewed.
Check this article from Dan Zarrella showing some stats: Data Shows: Articles Published on the Weekend are Shared on Facebook More
The takeaway? If you want your article to be shared on Facebook by your readers, try posting it over the weekend.
2) Take advantage of the Open Graph new feature
Facebook launched a protocol called “Open Graph” that allows you to add “like” button on your blog / website etc…The direct result from this is that people in one click can publish your post/article on their facebook profile. It’s a huge opportunity to reach people on Facebook in one click.
If you have a WordPress Blog, you can add this plugin: “Facebook Like”
It allows you to add a “Like” button under each blog post. It’s very easy to set up and use: (click on the picture to enlarge)
